Naples weather is characteristically Mediterranean, typified by warm and sunny summers, and cold and rather damp winters. Naples weather is at its finest and most pleasant during the spring and autumn seasons.
Winter weather is Naples is also renewed for its unpredictability. Commencing in November and coming to its end as March rolls in, Naples’ winter season alternates between spells of mild conditions with plenty of sunshine and long runs of damp conditions, tempered by heavy rainfall and icy cold winds. Temperatures hover around 3C during January, fluctuating between 4C to 13C during February. Naples weather during the winter season has the tendency to become rather foggy, while thanks to the influence of the Sirocco wind the west coast of the sea experiences more humidity and rain that the east coast.
With the emergence of spring, milder and more pleasant conditions return to the city. The sun remains perched on the sky for longer periods of time, and temperatures begin their ascent, finally reaching their peak of 32C during May.
Thanks to the city’s proximity to the Mediterranean, Naples weather during the summer season retains a rather hot disposition: the skies remain clear throughout with very rare disruptions of weak rainfalls, and the sun beams its magic for up to 10 hours per day. Despite the high heat, humidity is relatively and temperatures tend to stay 30°C for much of this time.
In its early stages, autumn follows similar patterns as spring, becoming increasingly colder the closer it gets to its end. By early November temperatures drop to 7C, and precipitation reaches its annual peak with 136mm (5.35in) of rain falling over a period of 12 days.
